3 doctors sent to jail in Tk 10cr graft case
A Faridpur court yesterday sent three doctors of Faridpur Medical College Hospital to jail in a graft case filed by Anti-Corruption Commsission (ACC).
The three are accused in the case filed over embezzling Tk 10 crore in the purchase of medical supplies for the hospital. They are: Assistant Prof Ganopat Biswas, former junior consultant Minakshi Chakma, and AHM Nurul Islam.
“Judge of additional district and sessions judges court Kamrunnahar Begum passed the order after the three surrendered before the court seeking bail,” said Dulal Chandra Sarkar, public prosecutor.
The court then sent them to jail. The case was filed by Mamunur Rashid, sub-deputy director of Faridpur ACC on November 27, last year.
Others accused are: Owner of MS Anik Traders Munshi Sazzad Hossain, also administrative officer of National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital; another owner Munshi Farrukh Hossain; and equipment supplier Abdullah Al Mamun.
