2 RU teachers get 'death threats'
Two Rajshahi University teachers have allegedly got death threats from “Sarbohara Party” over the phone.
Associate Prof M Aminul Islam of sociology department and Associate Prof Mohtasim Billah of philosophy department got the phone calls on Thursday.
Contacted, Aminul Islam said, “I received the call around 6:52pm. The caller introduced himself as Mithun of Sarbohara Party and said I am among those they are planning to kill.”
Then the caller demanded money, he said, “When I refused to comply, he said, 'Get ready. We are coming. We will abduct you and kill you',” Aminul said.
Mohtasim Billah said he got a phone call minutes later from the same number. “The caller introduced himself as Mohiuddin, a commander of Sarbohara Party.”
They had a similar conversation, he added. “Our men have been following you,” Mohtasim quoted the caller as saying.
The same day, the two teachers filed general diaries with Motihar Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge Shahadat Hossain said they are investigation the incident.
This correspondent tried to call the phone number in question, but found it to be 'invalid'.
