2 'drug peddlers' held with 25,000 yaba pills in Mohammadpur
Law enforcers today claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers along with 25 thousand pieces of yaba tablets in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area.
The arrestees are: Md Mamunur Rashid, 35 of Noakhali and Minara Begum, 35, of Cox’s Bazar, a press release issued by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) says.
Based on a tip-off, a team of Rab-1 conducted an operation around 5:40pm yesterday in Nabinagar Housing area under Mohammadpur Police Station, Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, senior assistant director of Rab's legal and media wing, told The Daily Star.
Minara Begum came from Teknaf to Dhaka a few days ago. She went to Uttara yesterday and collected the consignment of yaba pills from Rajlokkhi Market, Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan said.
Md Mamunur Rashid, a shop owner in Mohammadpur and a “professional drug peddler” met her in Uttara and together they came to Mohammadpur with the pills. They were supposed to deliver the pills to two different sources in Dhaka, Mizanur also said.
Two mobile phone sets and around 30 thousand taka were also recovered from the possession of the arrestees.
