2 die inhaling toxic gas in Savar
A bricklayer and a tannery staff died today after inhaling toxic gas while working in a septic tank at a tannery in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
The deceased were identified as Anwar, 25, a bricklayer, and Bappy, 26, a staff of RAN Lather, our Savar correspondent reports quoting ASM Sayeed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Savar Police Station.
Anwar entered into the under-construction septic tank of RAN Leather for maintenance work around 10:00 am and fainted after inhaling toxic gas inside the tank, said Litan Ahmed, senior station officer of Savar Fire Service and Civil Defence office.
Later, Bappy was also fell unconscious as he entered into the tank to rescue Anwar, he added.
On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and found the duo dead, said OC Sayeed.
The bodies were sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
