2 burnt in N'ganj 'gas leak blast' die

Two victims who suffered burns during a “gas leak” explosion in Narayanganj’s Fatullash on Saturday have succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased are Fatema Akhter, 35, and her five-year old son Safwan, 5. They are among four people who suffered burns in the blast.

Dr Partha Shankar Paul, a resident surgeon of the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed The Daily Star of their passing today.

Fatema's another son Rafi, 11, and daughter Faria Akhter, 9, are undergoing treatment at the hospital with burn injuries, he added.

The four members of the family, sustained critical burn injuries in an explosion -- possibly caused from a leaky gas pipeline -- in Fatullahon Saturday.
