2 burnt in N’ganj explosion

Two labourers suffered burn injuries in an explosion when they were working in a flat in Naryanganj city today.

The injured -- Md Shamim Mia, 30, and Sohel Mia, 23, -- were admitted to a local hospital from where they were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), reports our Narayanganj correspondent.

They were installing Thai glass in the flat when the explosion occurred around 12noon, said the gatekeeper of the house Md Zahir.

The flat was empty for a long time and the explosion might have happened from the accumulated gas, he added.

Contacted, Md Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Naryanganj Sadar Police Station said initially they are suspecting that gas accumulated there from gas line leakage, which caused the explosion.

Police detained two people for interrogation in connection with the incident, he said adding that they are investigating the matter.
