180 women police leave for Congo
A 180-member strong contingent of female members of Bangladesh Police left Dhaka in the early hours of yesterday by a chartered aircraft, to join a UN peacekeeping mission in DR Congo.
Police Super Salma Syed Poly is leading the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit-1 (BANFPU-1, Rotation-13) team as commander, to establish peace in a volatile territory, said a press release.
Female police members from Bangladesh had earlier joined a UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti in 2010.
