17th death anniv of Badiul Alam
Today is the 17th death anniversary of Advocate Badiul Alam, a freedom fighter and politician.
Born in 1926, Badiul completed his undergraduate degree from Calcutta University in 1946 and followed it up with an LLB from Dhaka University.
During the Liberation War, he was an Awami League regional president in Chattogram, and also later took on the responsibility of the Socialist Party Chittagong south division president.
In 1972, he became vice president of the Lawyers’ Association and in 1981 became the association’s president. He was also on committees for societies, and throughout his life, spearheaded the activities of Kodom Mubarak Muslim Orphans Feeding. Aside from these, in his own village, he helped set up Fatehnagar Sharifunessa Nazir Uddin Girls High School.
To mark the occasion, Advocate Badiul Alam Memorial Foundation will organise a milad mahfil at Chattogram’s Chandanaish upazila.
