157 Bangladeshi citizens arrive from UK
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines special flight, carrying 157 Bangladeshi citizens stranded in the UK due to suspension of regular passenger flights, landed at Dhaka Airport early today.
"The special chartered flight, carrying the Bangladeshi nationals from London, departed from the Heathrow International Airport at 10:30am local time of Saturday and landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:45am today," Tahera Khandaker, deputy general manager, public relations, Biman, said.
The special flight was arranged by the Bangladesh government at the initiative of Bangladesh High Commission, London.
This was the second repatriation flight from UK since Bangladesh suspended regular flight operations on all international routes except for China from March 16 to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The first repatriation flight was arranged on May 10 when over 100 stranded Bangladesh citizens flew to Bangladesh.
