The number of unsettled audit objections against 55 ministries or divisions is 8,53,314 involving Tk 6,15,606 crore which is almost double of the proposed budget of the next fiscal year.

Finance minister AMA Muhith disclosed the figure in parliament today while replying to a question from a lawmaker.

Muhith said, the audit objections remain unsettled for various reasons including the executive branch not giving reply to the objections on time.

He said, if even the reply to the objections were given, those were not based on proper information and evidence which causes the delay in settling the audit objections.

Another reason behind the delay is lack of manpower in the directorate of audit and pending cases.
