Mass hysteria sends fifteen schoolgirls to Barisal hospital
At least 15 schoolgirls of Durgapasa High School in Chanpasa village of Barisal were admitted to Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital yesterday after they fell victim to mass hysteria.
Shila Sarkar, a teacher at the school, said the girls were attending classes normally in the morning.
Later, two girls, Akhi Aktar and Mousumi Jahan of class VI, began vomiting and fell unconscious, she said, adding that afterwards other girls also began vomiting.
Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, the on-duty doctor at the hospital, said the girls suffered from mass hysteria.
He said the condition of the girls were now stable.
