Man ‘killed by addict son’ in Dhaka
A man was hacked to death allegedly by his addict son as the latter failed to get money in Jurain area of Dhaka this afternoon.
The deceased Mahar Ali, 50, was owner of a socks factory in Medical Road area, Kazi Wazed Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kadamtoli Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Mahar Ali’s son Suman, 28, who used to take drugs, demanded some money for the purpose, the OC said quoting family members of the victim.
As his father refused to give the money, Suman swooped on him with a sharp weapon and hacked him in his shoulder, the OC said quoting grandmother of Suman.
Suman managed to flee the spot leaving his father critically injured.
Later, the victim was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctor declared him dead.
Suman was undergoing treatment in India for the drug addiction and he was brought back home three days ago, family members said.
