Man held with gold worth Tk 6.5 crore at Ctg airport

Customs officials yesterday arrested a passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong after recovering 13kg of gold that was moulded into different parts of electrical appliances from his luggage.

On information, the officials launched a search on all the passengers of DG Dubai 148 flight that came from the United Arab Emirates and seized the gold in 24 different shapes concealed in appliances like hair dryer, drill machine and floor polishing machine.

The arrestee is Swapan Chandra Nath, 42, of Fatikchhari upazila, said the officials who estimated the gold price at Tk 6.5 crore.
