Man held with gold bars at Kamalapur railway station

Police arrested a young man along with five gold bars at Kamalapur railway station in the capital this morning.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police challenged Palash, 22, son of Dipak, a resident of Kachua in Chandpur district when he got down from the 'Turna Nishitha Express' coming from Chittagong around 6:45am, said Abdul Majid, officer-in-charge of Kamalapur Government Railway Police Station.

Later, the law enforcers recovered five gold bars after searching his body and arrested him.

The market value of the seized gold bars is estimated Tk20 lakh, the OC added.
