Man dies under crumbling stack of bricks during rain in capital

A man was killed as a pile of several thousand bricks stacked on Mirpur embankment fell onto three tin shacks during yesterday's downpour.

The deceased Abdul Malek, 50, a day labourer, was lying on his bed.

Malek's son Jamal Hosen, 18, who was also in the shack, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with injuries.

Police said the bricks slid downwards as the sand underneath was washed away by rainwater.
