Man arrested for beating sister

Police yesterday arrested the brother of a woman who was beaten publicly for disobeying the village arbitrator at Soto Latifpur of Kaliakoir in Gazipur on Monday.

Hossain Khan, 43, was arrested from Ashulia Bazar. He is the second accused in the case.

The victim Josna Akter was physically tortured by village leader Jalal Uddin and his associates as she disobeyed his order to attend a meeting called to arbitrate in a land dispute between her and Hossen.
