Male students of different departments of Dhaka University today brought out a procession on the university campus wearing Bangladeshi traditional dress Lungi, demanding wider acceptance for it.
The traditional dress for Bangladeshi men should be accepted at all the places including offices and educational institutions, one of the students participating in the procession told The Daily Star.
The students gathered on the premises of the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) at DU around 12:30pm and brought out the unique procession wearing Lungi, which is a very popular and common attire among men in Bangladesh.
They paraded the university campus for about one-and-half-hour and ended it in front of the DU Arts Building.
The students reportedly also attended their respective classes today wearing the traditional attire.
