Lebanon launches hotline for female domestic workers
Lebanon has launched a 24-hour hotline, 1740, for female domestic workers to allow them to report abuse or mistreatment and receive help, Arab News reported on Tuesday.
The country hosts over 200,000 migrant domestic workers, according to the International Labor Organization (ILO), employed under the “Kafala” sponsorship system which binds them to their employers, thereby rendering them vulnerable to exploitation.
The move is important as nearly one lakh Bangladeshi female migrants work in the Arab country.
