Kibria murder case testimony recording deferred again
A Sylhet court yesterday deferred the recording of witnesses' testimonies in former finance minister SAMS Kibria murder case for the seventh time as nine accused, including former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar, did not appear before it on the grounds of being ill.
It fixed today for recording. Six out of 171 witnesses, including complainant Awami League Habiganj district unit's general secretary Abdul Majid, have given depositions till now.
On September 13, a Sylhet court indicted 32 people, including suspended Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque, in the case. Eighteen of the accused are either on bail or are absconding. Five people, including Kibria, were killed and 70 others injured in a grenade attack on a public rally on January 27, 2005.
