Khaleda's bail extended till July 10
A Dhaka court yesterday extended till July 10 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in connection with the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Judge Court-5 in Dhaka passed the order after Advocate Sanaullah Miah submitted a petition seeking an extension.
Earlier on June 4, the same court extended her bail until yesterday and the court fixed the same date for hearing arguments on behalf of two other accused. Lawyer for Khaleda Zia had completed closing arguments in the case.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the corruption case with Tejgaon Police Station in August 2011, accusing Khaleda and three others of abusing power to raise funds for the trust from unknown sources.
On February 8, Khaleda was convicted for five years' rigorous imprisonment in connection with the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
