Khaleda's adviser Muktadir, 4 others sent to jail
A Sylhet court yesterday sent BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's adviser Khandakar Abdul Muktadir to jail in a case filed against unnamed people for attack on police on October 15.
Muktadir was arrested on Wednesday evening in front of a city hotel in Sobhanighat area while he was returning after attending the maiden rally of Jatiya Oikyafront.
Selim Miah, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said the BNP leader was handed over to the police station yesterday morning and shown arrested in the October 15 case.
Police filed the case accusing unknown individuals for attacking police from a procession brought out by Swechchhasebak Dal and other associated bodies of BNP.
Amulya Kumar Chowdhury, assistant commissioner (prosecution) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate of Sylhet denied Muktadir's bail prayer and sent him to jail after polite produced him before it.
Four other leaders and activists of BNP were shown arrested yesterday in cases filed with Kotwali and Dakkhin Surma police stations.
They were also sent to jail after being produced before the court, officers-in-charge of the police stations said.
