Juta demands removal of BCL man from admin officer post

Jahangirnagar University Teachers Association (Juta) at a general meeting in Zahir Raihan Auditorium yesterday threatened to launch a movement if the appointment of Bangladesh Chhatra League's (BCL) JU unit organising secretary as an administrative officer was not cancelled within 24 hours.

Faysal Hossain Dipu and five others were appointed on July 13 on an ad-hoc basis by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Farzana Islam, who later shifted him from the central library to the registrar's office.

Juta alleges that Faysal was among BCL men who on October 9, 2013 attacked teachers staging a sit-in in front of the administrative building demanding the then VC Prof Anwar Hossain's removal.

Faysal, who passed his masters from the statistics department that year, declined to comment. Prof Farzana could not be reached on her cellphone.
