JS body for expansion of electrification in CHT

The parliamentary standing committee on Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) affairs ministry yesterday suggested the ministry to increase communication with the power ministry for further expansion of electrification in the CHT.

At its 9th meeting at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban the committee also recommended fixing fund allocation rate for development activities and giving appointments to the vacant 1st and 2nd grade posts in three hill districts.

State Minister for the ministry Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing M, the committee chairman and its members attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the parliamentary standing committee on fisheries and animal resources ministry at its 7th meeting recommended procuring new animals for the Dhaka Zoo and securing its land with barbed wires.

It also recommended involving foreign agencies, donors and NGOs in the programmes under the ministry and maintaining quality of fish and animal feeds.

It asked the department of fisheries to take steps for catching and marketing fishes in the lake of the zoo.

Fisheries and Animal Resources Minister M Sayedul Haq and committee members were present at the meeting at JS Bhaban.
