JCD general secretary held in capital

Police yesterday arrested Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) General Secretary Akram-Ul Hasan in the capital's Paltan in connection with four cases.

Arrest warrants were issued for Akram in two cases, said police.

In a press release, the pro-BNP student organisation said Akram was arrested at Jatiya Press Club when he went there to join a programme organised jointly by Bangladesh Chhatra Forum and Uttaranchal Chhatra Forum.

The party's central committee condemned the arrest and announced that it would demonstrate across the country.
