The Inspector General of Police (IGP) today held a meeting with the country’s Ulemas (Islamic scholars) and sought their cooperation to combat militancy.

IGP AKM Shahidul Hoque sat with the Ulemas at Police Headquarters in Dhaka this afternoon.

In the meeting, the IGP urged the Ulemas to raise awareness in people against the misinterpretation of Islam, and the misguidance to kill innocents in the name of religion.

Police and the Islamic scholars agreed to sit regularly for exchanging opinions on the issue.
