Hearing for framing charge against Khaleda deferred
A Dhaka court yesterday deferred to April 12 for hearing the charge framing against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 18 others in Gatco graft case.
Judge Abu Syed Diljar Hossain of the Special Judge Court-3 set up in Old Dhaka's Bakshibazar area passed the order after Khaleda's lawyer Sanaullah Mia informed it about Khaleda's imprisonment in another graft case.
Meantime, Dr Khondaker Mosharraf Hossain and 11 others were present at the court yesterday while Amir Khasru Mahmud Chwodhury and five others were absent.
On September 2, 2007, Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Director Golam Shahriar Chowdhury filed the Gatco case with Tejgaon Police Station.
According to the charges, the accused caused a loss of Tk 145.64 crore to the national exchequer by allegedly awarding the contract of container handling at Chittagong Port and Dhaka's Inland Container Depot to Global Agro Trade (Pvt) Company Ltd (Gatco).
