HC upholds decision on turning Rajshahi, Rangpur PDB into company

The High Court yesterday upheld a government decision to turn Power Development Board (PDB) in Rajshahi and Rangpur zones into North West Zone Power Distribution Company (NWZDC).

The court rejected a petition filed challenging the legality of the decision.

It passed the order after petitioner's lawyer Abdul Matin Khasru told the court that his client will not proceed with the petition, as the board in the zones has already been turned into NWZDC. On August 1, PDB and NWZDC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and agreed to turn PDB in Rajshahi and Rangpur into NWZDC.
