HC stays Islamic Foundation's Pesh Imam recruitment
The High Court yesterday stayed the process for recruiting Pesh Imam under the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh for next three months following a writ petition filed by an aspirant for the post.
The court also issued a rule asking the government to explain in four weeks why the Islamic Foundation's circular issued on May 6 for appointing its mosque's Pesh Imam should not be declared illegal.
The aspirant, Abdur Rahim, also Khatib of Borogaon Jame Mosque at Kaliganj in Gazipur, filed the petition on May 27 saying that the conditions of the foundation's circular are contrary to its service rules, 1998.
Religious affairs ministry secretary, and director general and secretary of the foundation have been made respondents to the rule, petitioner's counsel HM Shanjid Siddique told The Daily Star.
