HC seeks reports on Dhaka city waste management

The High Court on February 10, 2016 issues a rule upon the government and the authorities of both city corporations to explain in four weeks why they should not be directed to take necessary steps for waste management in the city corporation areas. STAR file photo.

The High Court today directed the authorities concerned to submit reports in three months on the steps taken for waste management in Dhaka north and south city corporation areas.

The court also issued a rule upon the government and the authorities of both the city corporations to explain in four weeks why they should not be directed to take necessary steps for waste management in the city corporation areas.

The HC bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir came up with the order and rule following a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Syed Mohidul Kabir.

He submitted the petition as public interest litigation on January 10 seeking necessary orders from the HC in this regard.
