HC asks Bashundhara boss, 5 others to surrender at court
The High Court yesterday directed Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan alias Shah Alam and five others to surrender before the lower court concerned in Gazipur within eight weeks in a land grabbing case filed in 2010.
The HC passed the order during hearing three petitions.
The HC cancelled the orders of bail and stay of trial proceedings and asked the lower court to resume the trial.
Md Mukhlesur Rahman Khan, the assistant land officer of Shafipur union land office, filed the cases in Gazipur on May 13, 2010, against Shah Alam and others on charges of grabbing government lands, removing soil from there and threatening a government official on April 28 the same year.
The complainant said the accused grabbed government lands and removed soil from there for Mouchak City Project of Bashundhara Group at Madhyapara and Thakurpara in Kaliakoir upazila.
The other accused are project General Manager Abid Hossain, its Assistant General Manager Nure Alam Siddiqui, Chief Engineer Salek Hossain, Land Officer Md Faruk Hossain, and its senior official Md Mahmud Hossain, DAG Moniruzzaman added.
