Govt to construct 3,000 school bldgs
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday said the government will construct 3,000 new school buildings, at a cost of Tk 10,694 crore.
In reply to lawmakers' queries at the parliament, he said the government has given administrative approval in this regard.
Nahid also said the government has undertaken two projects titled “Development of Private Secondary Schools" and "High-Rise Expansion of Secondary Schools”, which was approved by Ecnec.
He said under the second project, the government would expand existing buildings of secondary schools at a cost of Taka 5,237.37 crore, which has been given administrative approval.
In reply to another query, he said 144 universities, both private and public, are carrying out educational activities in the country. Of them, 41 are public universities while the rest are private universities.
Meanwhile, Industries Minister Amir Hossen Amu yesterday told parliament that a total of 42 new industries have been restarted under the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), during 2017-18 fiscal year.
