Fugitive JMB member arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have arrested a fugitive member of banned militant outfit Jama'tul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB) at village Chhontia of Sadar upazila in Jamalpur on Thursday night.

The arrestee, Hassan Sheikh, 52, of the village, was first arrested by Rab members for his alleged involvement with militancy on October 26, 2009. The next day, a case was filed under the anti-terrorism act.

But later he secured bail and subsequently went into hiding from May 12, 2016.

Yesterday, a court sent him to jail.
