Foyzur's parents, uncle remanded

A Sylhet court yesterday placed parents and uncle of Foyzur Hasan, the attacker of Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, on remand for different terms in connection with the case.

Foyzur Hasan was being referred to by police as Foyzur Rahman since the day, March 3, when he attacked revered teacher and author Prof Iqbal during a programme on his campus of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) in Sylhet.

Judge Haridas Thakur of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate's Court-3 granted 5 days' remand each for Atiqur Rahman, Foyzur's father, and Fazlur Rahman, Foyzur's uncle, said Abdul Wahab Miah, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police. 

The court also placed Foyzur's mother Minara Begum on a 2-day remand.

The three placed on remand were earlier shown arrested in the case filed on March 5 by Sust registrar with Jalalabad Police Station over the attack on Prof Iqbal's life.

Foyzur's brother, Enamul Hasan, arrested on Thursday from Gazipur along with a mobile phone and a tablet computer used by Foyzur, will be shown arrested in the case soon, ADC Abdul Wahab added.

The same court on March 8 granted a 10-day remand for the attacker, Foyzur Hasan.
