At least five persons were injured as some crude bombs they were making exploded in a house of a Union Parishad member in Rustam Mondolertola-Uttar Narayanpur area of Sadar upazila in Chapainawabganj early yesterday.

Five persons, including three of the injured, were arrested in Rajshai while 50 crude bombs and bomb-making materials were recovered from the spot, said police.

Mohammad Shakil alias Sumon, 28, Jahidul Islam, 25, and Arif Hossain, 40, were undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital under police escort, they said.

Mahfuzur Rahman, 28, and Hamidur Rahman, 25, were held while taking the three to the hospital, they added.

Two people, who sustained minor injuries in the explosion, managed to flee during police raid, said locals.

Sadar Model Police Station Sub-inspector Mahbub Al Imran said the house owner was on the run.
