Eminent citizens urge DSCC Mayor Khokon to improve waste management
Civil society representatives yesterday urged Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon to modify the capital's waste management system to solve water logging problem and traffic jam.
Pointing out seven problems being faced by the city dwellers, they also urged the mayor to take initiatives to make the city green, preserve its heritage and renovate and develop slums, playgrounds and parks.
The mayor in his office in the capital assured the delegation, including Bishwo Shahitto Kendro founder Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Eng Iqbal Habib and Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon President's Dr Abdul Matin, of solving the problems and proposed that the team should formulate a work plan.
Managing Director of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority Taqsem A Khan was also present.
