DMC forensic chief confirms rapes of four females
Forensic tests confirmed that four females, including a child, were raped and two of them were gang-raped, Prof Habibuzzaman Chowdhury, head of forensic medicine department at Dhaka Medical College, said yesterday.
The victims, aged between six and 25, were raped in different places of Jatrabari and Bhatara in the capital, Munshiganj and Gazipur on Saturday and Tuesday.
Later, they were admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Bilkis Begum, coordinator of the centre.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court yesterday placed four persons, arrested in connection with the rape in Jatrabari, on a three-day remand each. A woman, owner of the house where the crime was committed, was also put on a two-day remand.
In Gazipur's Shripur, a housewife, 25, was gang-raped allegedly by her husband Jibon and five others -- Rubel, Faruk, Kamrul, Nazim Uddin and Afazuddin -- on Tuesday, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
Police arrested Rubel and Faruk after the victim filed a case with Shripur Police Station.
On the same day, a college girl was gang-raped by some local miscreants in Jatrabari when she went there with her boyfriend to visit a house.
Police have arrested three alleged rapists.
On Saturday, a six-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her cousin in Munshiganj.
