Dense fog causes 3 deaths on road

Poor visibility amid dense fog led an accident killing a motorcycle rider and his two co-riders in Meghna Bazar area of Madhabdi upazila yesterday morning, reports our Narsingdi correspondent.

Police said Rafiqul Islam, 25, along with two of his friends -- Ashok Dutta, 27, and Sohel, 26 -- was going to Madhabdi from his house in Sadar upazila by a motorbike.

On the way, the motorcycle was hit against a roadside wall and plunged into a ditch as the rider became disorientated and could not see well in thick fog around 7:00am.

The three died on the spot, said police.

Our Faridpur correspondent adds, a man was killed as a bus ran him over on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Ratail area of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj yesterday.

The deceased is Siddikur Rhaman Mia, 80, from Ratail.
