CU BCL president, 9 others sued over Diaz death

Ten people including the president of Bangladesh Chhatra League Chittagong University unit have been sued in a case filed over the death of the party’s central assistant secretary Diaz Irfan Chowdhury.
Jaheda Amin Chowdhury, mother of Diaz Irfan, filed the case with the Chittagong Judicial Magistrate Court around 12:30pm, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
Four among the accused are Md Alamgir Tipu, president of Chittagong University unit of BCL, Anwar Hossain, assistant proctor of the university, Jamsedul Alam Chowdhury, former general secretary of BCL CU unit; and Rashedul Alam Jisan, a student of economics department of CU.

The court accepted the case and ordered Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the death incident and submit a report in a month.
Yesterday, family members rejected the autopsy report that said Diaz committed suicide.
Diaz was found hanging in his residence near Chittagong University on Sunday.
Since the incident, the family has been claiming that Diaz, also former vice president the CU unit of BCL, was killed in a planned way by his rivals following a dispute over tender of construction of the university buildings.
After his death, Diaz's followers demonstrated in Chittagong demanding arrest of those involved in the incident. They disrupted shuttle train services between the city and the university for two hours.
