Creative question protest continues
Terming the rise in the number of creative questions in SSC and HSC examinations an extra physical and mental pressure, general students yesterday gave the authorities concerned an ultimatum, demanding that they repeal the decision of increasing the number of questions from six to seven by tomorrow.
The students raised the demand at a press conference at Dhaka University's Madhur Canteen, and threatened to go on tougher movement if their demands were not met.
As per the previous system, 60 percent of marks were allocated for theoretical questions and 40 percent for multiple-choice ones.
According to the new pattern, 70 percent of marks are allocated for theoretical questions and 30 percent for multiple-choice ones, with the number of theoretical question increasing.
On behalf of the general students, a Government Science College student said, "We are not ready to sit for the upcoming examinations as per the new system. It will impose an extra physical and mental stress on us."
He urged the education minister to take exams according to the previous system of answering six questions.
The student said they submitted a memorandum to Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on September 26 in this connection.
They also condemned the baton charges by law enforcement agencies on them on Thursday.
Students from Dhaka College, Dhaka City College, Government Bangla College and Harun Mullah College were present at the conference.
