Court orders judicial probe against 5 cops
A Dhaka court yesterday ordered a judicial probe against five policemen a day after a woman filed a complaint accusing them of sexual abuse against her in Jatrabari Police Station.
Judge Shafiul Azam of the Second Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression directed Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Hafizur Rahman to investigate the allegation.
The magistrate was asked to submit a report on the investigation within seven days.
The CMM will now assign a metropolitan magistrate to conduct the inquiry and the assigned magistrate will summon the complainant and other witnesses to appear before it to narrate what they know about the incident.
The accused are Officer-in-Charge Aboni Shankar Kar, Sub-Inspector Md Jasim, Assistant SI Md Jamal, constable Debashish of Jatrabari Police Station and SI Abdul Kader of Mughda Police Station.
The court recorded the statement of the complainant on Wednesday and fixed yesterday to pass an order.
