Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has sacked High Court Administrative Officer Md Golam Faruk from the service as he was convicted and sentenced to six years imprisonment in a corruption case.
High Court Registrar Golam Rabbani has issued a notification yesterday in this regard saying that the dismissal of Golam Faruk will be effective from May 9, the day when a Dhaka Court pronounced the verdict against him.
Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Judge Court-5 sentenced Golam Faruk to six years' in his absentia for amassing illegal wealth. His wife was also sentenced to three years’ imprisonment in the case. The court fined the former HC official over Tk 70.51 lakhs.
The punishment of the fugitives will be effective from the day of their arrest or surrender, the judge ordered.
