Bus ticketing system by this month: DSCC mayor
Bus ticketing system will be introduced on Mohammadpur-Motijheel route by this month to improve the traffic system in the city.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon told this to reporters after a meeting held at Nagar Bhaban this afternoon.
“We will introduce the system by this month for smooth communication of the city dwellers,” the mayor said.
Passengers will have to collect ticket from a certain place before boarding the bus and no bus will be allowed to stop for any unscheduled stoppage on the route, he added.
Bus Owners Association will introduce the system while the DSCC, Dhaka Road Transport Authority, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority and police will assist to make the effort successful, the mayor said.
Apart from this, circular bus service will be introduced on Babu Bazar-Mogbazar route via Dayaganj, Jatrabari and Demra, Staff Quarter Road, Ashulia, Meradia and Rampura.
Earlier on Thursday, the DSCC Mayor made three roads of the capital off-limits to rickshaws.
The roads are Kuril to Sayedabad via Rampura and Khilgaon, Gabtoli to Azimpur via Asad Gate, and Science Laboratory intersection to Shahbagh intersection.
Besides, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) yesterday made Progoti Saroni to Malibagh route via Kuril Bishwa Road and Mirpur Road to Dhanmondi-27 intersections from Gabtoli off-limit to rickshaws to improve the traffic situation.
