BR demolishes shops, houses

The authorities of Bangladesh Railway (east zone) yesterday demolished around 250 shops and tin-roof houses erected occupying the railway land at Ice Factory road in Chittagong city.

A team of railway officials conducted the drive in Station Colony and recovered five acres of railway land, said Ishrat Reza, divisional estate officer of BR.

The Chittagong district administration, members of Chittagong Metropolitan Police, Government Railway Police and Railway Nirapatta Bahini assisted the team.
