BIWTC contractor shot in Motijheel

A man was injured by unknown assailants at Motijheel in Dhaka last night.

Jakir Hossain, 28, a contractor of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Unknown criminals opened fire Jakir when he was going to Kamalapur for repairing his motorcycle around 10:30pm, said Officer-in-Charge of Motijheel Police Station Omar Faruk.

Jakir was hit by bullets in his head and leg, police said.

The victim told The Daily Star that he was selected as BIWTC contractor recently and that might be a reason behind the attack.
