'BCL men beat' 3 students at RU

Bangladesh Chhatra League activists of Rajshahi University unit allegedly assaulted three students over “sexual harassment” of a female student on the campus on Sunday night.

Ershad, Rashed and Riyon are of different departments of the university, campus sources said.

The female student alleged that BCL activist Shakib and some of his fellows harassed her sexually on Paris Road on the campus in the evening on that day.

Later, she sought help from the three who went to Shakib and his associates to protest and settle the matter, said witnesses.

At that time, there was an altercation between the two groups and, at one stage, the three were beaten up by them, said the three.

Nothing happened on Paris Road and they did not assault anybody, said Shakib, adding that the allegations were brought against him just to tarnish his image. Proctor Enamul Haque said he would look into the matter.
