Baqui Billah passes away

Baqui Billah, an engineer, died at a local hospital on Friday. He was 90.

He left behind his wife, two daughters and two sons. He was buried at his family graveyard in Nishindara of Bogra.

Born in 1925 in Bogra and educated in Kolkata Shibpur College of Engineering, Baqui Billah was the chief engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) and structural designer of several buildings and monuments of national importance.

His notable works include the Public Library, TSC, the National Mausoleum (supervision), Mausoleum of three national leaders, Tongi Bridge, Modhumita Cinema Hall, and Navana building.
