Police Anti-Terrorism Unit kicks off to combat militancy
Bangladesh Police today introduced a specialised branch, Anti-Terrorism Unit to combat terrorism and militancy across the country.
A total of 581 posts, including one additional inspector general of police (IGP), deputy inspector general (DIG) and additional DIG each, five superintendents of police (SPs), 10 additional SPs, 12 assistant SPs and 75 inspectors, were created for the unit, states a gazette issued by the home ministry.
The ATU unit has also got 41 vehicles for transportation for carrying out its service, the order added.
