Tutor held for ‘kidnapping’ student in Dhaka

Law enforcers caught a house tutor red-handed while reportedly taking ransom of Tk 10 lakh after kidnapping his student in Pallabi area of Dhaka this afternoon.

The arrestee Hasan Al Bonya, 30, was a tutor of Sabbab, 6, a nursery student of a school in Pallabi area, Dadon Fakir, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Bonya “kidnapped” Sabbab when he was going to school around 10:00 am and asked the student’s family to pay Tk 10 lakh as ransom through a bKash account, the OC said.

Responding to the call, the student’s father paid Tk 15,000 and informed the law enforcers about the incident, the police official said.

Later, police caught the “kidnapper” red-handed while he along with Sabbab was waiting for next payment at Mirpur Avenue-5 around 2:00 pm, the OC said.
