Bangladesh gets 5 Russian choppers
Bangladesh's defence ministry has received five Mi-171Sh helicopters under a state credit contract of late 2013 from Russian Helicopters, a part of State Corporation Rostec, for use in UN humanitarian missions, transport, border security and regions facing complex problems.
Equipped with the latest avionics, additional fuel tanks and an external sling for large cargo, the armoured helicopters can operate day and night in any weather, says a Russian Helicopters statement issued on Friday.
They are designed to combat armoured ground, surface, immobile and mobile small targets, carry out search and rescue operations, and transport up to 37 paratroopers, 4,000 kilogrammes of cargo and 12 injured persons on stretchers.
