Bangladesh committed to religious freedom: Foreign minister

Bangladesh is a country committed to promoting religious freedom and communal harmony.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said this to US Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Samuel D Brownback when he met the latter at US Department of State in Washington, DC on Wednesday, said a Bangladesh Embassy press release yesterday.

Ambassador Brownback during the meeting highly praised Bangladesh for hosting 1.1 million forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens irrespective of their faiths.

The Bangladesh foreign minister is currently leading the Bangladesh delegation at the first-ever Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom at Washington, DC, being hosted by US Secretary of State Michael R Pompeo on July 25 and 26.
